Description

Product Description

Turn a single-cell Li-Ion/Li-Po battery (3.0–4.2 V) into a stable 5 V source for wearable projects with this LilyPad LiPower – 5 V step-up module. The round, LilyPad-compatible board integrates a boost converter, a JST-PH 2-pin battery connector, and a handy ON/OFF switch. Large pads for stitching with conductive thread make it easy to embed in textiles, but they can also be used with standard wires. Ideal for powering 5 V microcontrollers, short LED strips, sensors, and other light loads in wearable projects.

Note: This is a boost (step-up) module; it does not charge the battery. Use a dedicated Li-Po charger for recharging.

Technical Details

  • Input (battery): 3.0…4.2 V DC (single Li-Ion/Li-Po cell)
  • Output: 5 V DC (regulated)
  • Output current (typ.): up to ~200 mA continuous, higher peaks for short durations — depends on the converter and the battery used
  • Efficiency: up to ~90% (depending on load and cell)
  • Battery connector: JST-PH 2-pin (2.0 mm pitch)
  • Switch: ON/OFF on board
  • Output interface: LilyPad pads/eyelets labeled +5V and GND (can be soldered or stitched)
  • Common protections: current limiting on the converter; does not include cell under-discharge protection — a cell with built-in protection (PCB) is recommended
  • Dimensions: LilyPad disc ~30–35 mm diameter (may vary slightly by batch)
  • Weight: very light, suitable for wearables
  • Operating temperature: 0…+50 °C (typical for wearables)

Usage Example / Wiring Guide

  1. Insert the Li-Po battery into the JST connector (observe polarity).
  2. Connect the +5V pad to your board’s power input (e.g., LilyPad/Arduino 5 V) and GND to ground.
  3. Flip the switch to ON to get 5 V at the output.
  4. Avoid high-power loads (motors, pumps, long LED strips). If the voltage drops or the module heats up, reduce the load.

Safety & best practices:

– Do not short the output.

– Turn the module off before making connections.

– For longer battery life, don’t discharge below ~3.3 V (use protected cells).

– For currents >200 mA, consider a more robust boost solution.
